Some 18 km (or 1 hours drive) south-west of Moalboal Cebu you’ll find Kawasan Falls. From the parking area you’ll have to walk more or less 15 to 30 minutes along a very rocky and narrow path, but even though it is a bit humbling bumbling it is worth it, just take it easy and enjoy the walk along the beautiful river. Look at all the different kind of tropical plants -it is not every day you’ll have that many beautiful impressions.
Kawasan has three waterfalls. The first one is the largest and is usually the most crowded. You can bring some food. But If you want to just relax you don’t have to bring in food since it’s available from the resort’s restaurants.Cottage and tables are also available for rent. You should rent a bamboo raft to take you around the lake, or for a refreshing “waterfall massage” under the falling water. You have the opportunity to climb up beside the waterfall and jump into the water, just like Tarzan.
There is a slight fee to visit the falls and be aware of people offering their services as guides. Its a easy walk to the falls and you do not need a guide. If you arrive by motorbike or car also be prepared to pay a small fee to park. 50P is reasonable. Water at the falls is icey cold, but refreshing. In my image of the falls you see people on bamboo rafts, well the raft is not free to use and also a guide will offer his services to steer you around the falls. Both are useful and pay the small fees.
The guide is going to expect a tip and about 20 pesos is OK, but that is only $0.40 so use your own judgement. Ask the cost before using the raft or a guide to avoid arguments. I would advise using the guide services. The guides maneuver your raft to pass under some rocks then under the falls. The water actually hurts so if you have tender skin pass on the free water massage.

The falls and surrounding scenery are breathtaking and while there are not many “activities” to do, just being there to relax a few hours is a wonderful experience. Bring a camera!!!
The Asian Belgian Resort Moalboal had arranged our trip to Kawasan falls
I saw first hand why the Asian Belgian Resort Moalboal had received so many great tripadviser
reviews Daniel onwer an manager went out of his way to make the Asian Belgian Resort a hit,
I stayed at the Asian Belgian Resort on the strength of the favorable tripadvisor reviews, and I was not disappointed. I travel in the Philippines frequently for business, and usually try to get in some diving on the weekends. Of the places I’ve been diving — Batangas, Subic, Mactan, and now Moalboal — the diving in Moalboal, in particular Pescador Island and now Moalboal — the diving in Moalboal, in particular Pescador Island, was the best I’ve seen so far. Excellent visibility — ~ 100 feet — lots of marine life including an amazing school of sardines, large lion fish, 6′ thresher shark. Very nice.
Backpackers travelling through Asia will not be disappointed with the scuba diving and cultural highlights
if you’re looking for a deeper experience on your beach holiday with a mix of relaxation, privacy, seclusion, fun, excitement, adventure and great fun
Forget four hours of daylight and grab a winter sun holiday in the moalboal cebu
